Hey Hey Everyone! My name is Alya and I am a Grade 11 student at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School. Today, I had the pleasure of attending the Illuminate National High School Leadership Conference with over 170 students globally. Here is my blog which strives to highlight what I learned about topics such as empathy, leadership, and experience!
"The purpose of our life is to be Happy" - Dalai Lama
The Brock University presentation opened up my eyes to the importance of coop and gave me an interest in studying abroad.
Mental fitness is the key to happiness, it is the ability to train your mind to become who you want to be, and it is the only way to truly know yourself and be happy. This is the key to becoming a leader.
To prove yourself in the workforce is to use your skills as power! Designation and coop are the best tangible experiences and proof of skills you can bring to any career.
There is always a lesson to be learned by new experiences and stepping out of your comfort zone. Being a new mechanic just happens to be one of them.
Entrepreneurship and leadership know no boundaries.
I have ideas and I have plans, and also the personality and motivation to get things done. I would create a business that could make as many people as I can happy. Using the mindset of an entrepreneur, I can implement a new kind of passion, creativity, and pragmatic sense of a leader.
I hope to make a difference in the world and connect people to those who seem completely different but so alike, and create a sense of peace. I hope in the next year to make that happen!
My last piece of advice is: You don't have to create something out of nothing, you can better what already there and make connections for those who don't already see them. A leader is someone who is confident in themselves and those around them, the situation doesn't matter (a school project, own business, or 9-5 job) everything is valid!
