The Illuminate Experience

Hi! My name is Michael Liao and I am a grade 11 and Markham District High school. Today, I had the pleasure to attend the Illuminate National High School Leadership Conference with over 170 students globally. Here is my blog which strives to highlight what I learned about collaboration, and finance.

I learned a lot at the workshops and keynotes today. First, I learned that Warren Buffet started investing when he was 11, meaning he started from a very young age. I also learned the difference between commodities, stocks, and cash. Also, I learned that you need to be empathetic and inclusive as a leader.

I also learned that becoming a CPA is very beneficial to one's career due to the corporate opportunities it offers as well as the high salary and versatility across countries.

I think that I am very entrepreneurial in the sense that I am always looking for new opportunities to make new things and lead others.

I am looking forward to leading new people in the future. I think the best piece of advice is that one has to be inclusive as a leader.
