Markham x Illuminate

Hi everyone! My name is Julie, and I am a Grade 11 student at Richmond Hill High School. Yesterday, I had the pleasure to attend Illuminate x Markham’s regional conference. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about social entrepreneurship.

During the workshops, I was able to listen to industry professionals talk about how important it is to determine our values, strengthen our commitment, and make connections. Thanks to Mashurf, I also left the conference with more knowledge on cybersecurity, which was a very foreign topic to me. The career Q&A session was highly informative, and I realized that it's OK to constantly explore what the professional world has to offer instead of sticking to one strict path.

As for the case competitions, it was super exciting to work with my teammates to prepare solutions and present them in front of a judge. I also loved watching the finalist groups present and seeing their innovative ideas. Overall, this conference was an amazing experience that I would recommend to all students who are interested in learning more about business, improving public speaking, and developing quick problem-solving skills.
