Illuminate x Markham

Hi everyone! My name is Aricia and I am a Grade 9 student at St.Robert CHS. Today, I had the pleasure to attend Illuminate x Markham’s regional conference. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about entrepreneurship.

This conference taught me about the “Theory of Change”, and how it is used to find a solution to problems. I particularly enjoyed learning about this because I got to see how it was used in the real world to brainstorm for a mental health company. The “Theory of Change” can also be applied to my own projects as well as my everyday life.

Another thing I learned today was the importance of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence was always one of those phrases that I heard everywhere but quickly dismissed. Listening to Alina speak really motivated me to make an effort to make new friends, especially since I am a freshman at a new school.

I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the conference and participate in my first case competition. It was truly an enlightening and motivating experience.
