Illuminate Universe---Illuminate the world!

Hi Everyone! My name is Maggie Wang and I am a Grade 11 student at Oakville Trafalgar High School. Today, I had the pleasure to attend the Illuminate x North York Regional Conference. Here is my blog which strives to highlight what I learned about entrepreneurship and collaboration, as well as executive thinking.

My key takeaways from the opening keynote is that I learned that sometimes you should not follow your passion, or in other words, do not follow your career pathways before you definitely know which passion you wish to pursue. I did not know that helping others choosing careers could be a career this cool, and I find it very interesting to try and explore a suitable career for me based on the keynote Dan Kiernan gives.

My key takeaways from the first workshop is that I find the call-in action speech ccan be quite difficult to come up with, especially during a short period of time. This made me realize how hard it is to let others quickly know myself during an interview. I learned that introducing myself, as well as call-in action are very important for first impressions, and I should prepare them beforehand.

My key takeaways from the second workshop is that networking is very important to have at work. Additionally, I also learned from Swish Goswami that sometimes it is unavoidable that we must take risks in our work field in order to accomplish goals, and that is okay. We should remember to not regret after we take risks, or else do not take the risks that you will regret afterwards.

My key takeaways is that working together with my team can be difficult when the time given for the presentation is so short, but also fun at the same time as we collaborate together. This challenge also practices my speaking and problem solving skills.

I consider myself an entrepreneur as I am willing to take risks, have persistence, and I am confident. If I were to create a business and I only had $5 in my pocket, my business would be a song-writing business where I will write songs for clients. I will also remember to take risks, responsibilities, and be persistent in the future.

At The End:

I am very passionate about the lifelong challenges and I am looking forward to doing them again next year. Also, if I could share one piece of advice about leadership with your readers, I will say that when making decisions, be decisive and confident. Do not hesitate and doubt yourself.
