Guiding Me Through My Entrepreneurship Journey

Writer's picture: Bill JiangBill Jiang

Hi Everyone! My name is Bill Jiang and I am a Grade 11 student at York Mills Collegiate Institute. Today, I had the pleasure to attend the Illuminate x North York Regional Conference. Here is my blog which highlights two topics that I learned about: entrepreneurship and collaboration.

As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others. —Bill Gates

Keynote Takeaways

From the first keynote, I learned that the speaker is a successful entrepreneur who worked in both small and large businesses. He has a lot of experience about entrepreneurship and job applications. I learned from him that to be successful, we have to follow our passions, work hard on our job interviews, as well as have a clear goal in mind.

From the second keynote I learned that the speaker talked about how he started up his company and became a successful entrepreneur. He inspired me to want to start my own business as well.

What An Entrepreneur Means To Me

I consider myself an entrepreneur if I am willing to take risks and start my own business. If I only had $5 in my pocket, I would start off by creating a business that does not require much cost, such as a lemonade stand. In the future, I can apply the entrepreneurial mindset when I face a difficult situation and I need to make a decision. I would probably choose the one with high risk and high reward with my entrepreneurial mindset.

My Passion and The Next Step

I am really passionate about learning more about business, especially entrepreneurship. My dream is to become a billionaire and to accomplish it I know that I will have to start my own business. Next year, I am looking forward to possibly creating a small retailing business and selling merchandise. I am confident that the skills and knowledge I learned today will help me succeed.

What is My Advice About Leadership?

My advice about leadership would be to always be nice and supportive to your teammates. This is extremely important because this will gain you trust, and more people will be willing to work with you.
